📍From 17 to 21 June, a group of representatives of the Spanish penitentiary system – experts from the General Secretariat of Penitentiary Institutions under the Ministry of the Interior of Spain 🇪🇸 – visited Bishkek within the assessment mission.
✅ During the visit, a round table was organized, as well as a number of bilateral and multilateral meetings with prison staff, government agencies and non-governmental organizations, during which international experts got acquainted with existing programmes in Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬 related to drug use addictions in the field of combating drug use and distribution, as well as state treatment programs in prisons.
🗒️ Based on the results of the mission, it is planned to develop a training module for prison staff in the field of prevention, harm reduction, treatment, rehabilitation and reintegration of persons with drug use disorders in detention facilities.
